Well, how DID I get here from there? I started out on the right path. I went to an artistic highschool and a "finishing school". Then I must have gone terribly wrong. I ended up as a business major, in accounting, and did that for years. I returned to school to get (of all things) an MBA in computers. So, I became a computer programmer for more years. Then, along came the "weeding out" of the economy.

I took a Small Business course and sold shareware for a while. Then the internet was invented and became widely used, so the market for distributing shareware evaporated.

Then, I took jewelry classes and had LOTS of fun melting silver and playing with tools. When my hometown wanted to build a new school, they converted the old school into "ArtSpace - Maynard" and I was lucky enough to get a spot there. While I was waiting for the fire marshall to give me the "OK" for my torches, I started sawing animals. Mistakes were made. The alligator's tail was too short, the horse's legs were too fat... and everytime I made a mistake, something better happened. (I wish I had known about this phenomenon when I was much younger, I could have saved myself years of heartache.)

Now I have merged my computer skills with my art skills. The coloring books are done on the computer, as are the t-shirts. I had to make the creatures in 3D (and the changes to the creatures, especially Frithy and Tenny are stories all by themselves) out of Fimo. By taking digital pictures of them at different angles I was able to get the drawings in the coloring books to appear more three dimensional.

Enough of this for now. We'll talk again later. kathi
